Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. Mitchell graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began her career as an TV reporter and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. In 1981 she started reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief International Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared on the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered at the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988 throughout both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She reported on a number of noteworthy events including arms control, fiscal tax reforms, and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went on numerous summits as part of the president Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
